Are Democrats Growing A Spine?

by Ben Hoffman

After a year of floundering around with the health insurance reform proposals, the Democrats are finally taking charge. Obama was as naive as a little school girl thinking that he could work with Republicans on anything. Now Democrats are doing what it takes to pass health insurance reform, and while there are a lot of problems with the bill as it is written, they have to start somewhere.

Some conservative Democrats have also been a problem, like Bart Stupak, but House leaders finally stopped trying to appease him and chose not to give him a vote to add his radical anti-abortion amendment. If he is truly “pro-life,” he’ll vote for the bill because it will save lives.

  1. If he is truly “pro-life,” he’ll vote for the bill because it will save lives.

Since when would doing good or bad enter into the equation?

Legislating a woman’s access to her own body is of much higher priority that saving lives, unless of course we’re talking blastocysts and fetuses, which apparently the ‘gold standard’ when it comes to defining life.

  2. It’s about time. “for the first time in my life, I’m proud of my party”
