If Conservatives Had Their Way

by Ben Hoffman

If conservatives had their way…

National parks would be privatized and open for commercial development. The wealthy would have homes perched along the rims of the Grand Canyon. Dams would be built. Sides of pristine mountains would be strip mined.

Our skies would be full of soot from deregulated factory pollution. Smoke would pour out of tail pipes.

Our rivers would be full of sewage after dumping restrictions were repealed.

Highways would be privatized and we’d have to pay tolls everywhere we went. Bridges, also.

The Post Office would be privatized. It would cost $15 to mail a letter to an out of the way location. Mail would no longer be reliable since all the post office workers would be paid pennies a day, since minimum wages would have been repealed.

Garbage would be dumped anywhere and everywhere except for on the property of the wealthy.

Small businesses wouldn’t have a chance since monopolies would dominate all industries.

Religion would replace science, except for in big money making industries.

Tap water would be unsafe to drink. We’d all have to buy our water.

Social Security would be eliminated. Elderly people who had no means of support would be begging on the streets.

Political parties would be eliminated. Instead we’d choose which corporation we’d want to run the country.

We’d all have to pray to Jesus every day, only we’d be praying that God would take us out of the sh*thole this country had become.

Sarah Palin’s New Book Going Rogue: My Life as Carrie’s Mom – Exclusive Excerpt!!!

by Ben Hoffman

Yes, the Drudge Retort has an exclusive excerpt from Sarah Palin’s new autobiography!

When Tommy Ross asked my daughter Carrie to the prom, I forbade it, but Carrie fought back on prom night. When I tried to prevent her from going, Carrie threw me against the bed and ran out the door. After she left, I lit dozens of candles and gazed out the window at Russia, waiting for her return.

Carrie came home after the Prom covered with blood. She washed herself in the tub before putting on a nightgown. I waited behind the bathroom door and tried to comfort her. I told Carrie about the night she was conceived. Me and Todd got it on real good that night, don’t you know.

GOP Congressman Trent Franks is a Domestic Terrorist: Calls Obama “an enemy of humanity”

by Ben Hoffman

“Obama’s first act as president of any consequence, in the middle of a financial meltdown, was to send taxpayers’ money overseas to pay for the killing of unborn children in other countries,” said Frank. “Now, I got to tell you, if a president will do that, there’s almost nothing that you should be surprised at after that. We shouldn’t be shocked that he does all these other insane things. A president that has lost his way that badly, that has no ability to see the image of God in these little fellow human beings, if he can’t do that right, then he has no place in any station of government and we need to realize that he is an enemy of humanity.”

Link

This nut Trent Franks is also a birther, claiming that Obama is not legitimately a president. What it comes down to is inciting hatred of our democratically elected president. It’s one thing to be critical of policy, but this is getting dangerous. What he’s doing is inciting violence and it is domestic terrorism.

New Poll: Favorable Opinion of Democrats = 40%, Republicans = 22%

by Ben Hoffman

While the so called “liberal media” repeatedly posts polls that show Obama’s ratings dropping, they don’t report what’s really going on. Here’s the latest poll from the Daily Kos:

Source

The majority (54%) still has a favorable opinion of Barack Obama.

While only 38% of those polled have a favorable opinion of Congressional Democrats, only 17% have a favorable opinion of Congressional Republicans. 40% of the public has a favorable opinion of the Democratic party but only 22% view the Republican party favorably.

So while those living in Glennbeckistan may be garnering media attention, their antics aren’t going unnoticed. Most people are sane in this country and don’t want these right-wing radicals in office. Most people really do love our country more than they love their party.

FBI Thwarts Terrorist Attack: Nary a Peep From Right-Wingers

by Ben Hoffman

Why? Because it contradicts their claims that having Obama as president has made us less safe. Or at least it doesn’t support those claims. During this time, we’ve seen multitudinous numbers of blogs about ACORN, and about Obama’s diplomatic efforts which right-wingers call “apologizing for American,” but where are the blogs about the thwarted terrorist attack?

Nowhere.

The fact is, right-wingers would actually like to see the U.S. attacked again so they have a better chance of getting more of their own in office during next year’s congressional elections and in the 2012 presidential election. They’d like nothing more than to have some evidence to support their beliefs — or at least their claims, that Republicans are better at protecting America. I doubt a lot of them actually believe their own rhetoric. Then again, half the population has an I.Q. of under 100.

Bush Administration Allowed Iran To Build Nuclear Facility

by Ben Hoffman

More evidence that Bush’s foreign policies towards Iran didn’t work and made us less safe. Today we learned that Iran has been working on a secret nuclear facility for years.

The level of deception by the Iranian government, and the scale of what we believe is the breach of international commitments, will shock and anger the entire international community,” Prime Minister Gordon Brown of Britain said, standing beside Mr. Obama and Mr. Sarkozy. “The international community has no choice today but to draw a line in the sand.

Another Bush mess Obama is forced to clean up rather than focusing on our countries needs. Thanks Bush for leaving a pathetic mess.

Sarah Palin Badmouth’s The U.S. — Pals Around With Communists!

by Ben Hoffman

In Sarah Palin’s recent trip to China, she badmouthed pretty much every aspect of our country. She complained about liberals to communists! She badmouthed the Bush administration for its goal of an “ownership society.” She correctly criticized our government for loosening lending standards (which occurred through deregulation) but then blamed it on too much government. She blames the Fed for the collapse of our economy. She badmouthed our government for its deficit spending and then praised Reaganomics. Reagan was the king of deficit spending! Reagan claimed that deficits don’t matter!

Unbelievable. If Sarah Palin wants to pal around with communists and badmouth our country, maybe she should just stay in China. We don’t need you here Sarah Palin! Or as Kieth Olbermann calls her: “Carrie’s Mom.”

Obama Saves Us From Terrorist Attack!!!

by Ben Hoffman

NEW YORK — Terror suspect Najibullah Zazi plotted for more than a year to detonate homemade bombs in the United States, had recently bought bomb-making supplies from beauty supply stores and was looking for “urgent” help in the past two weeks to make explosives, an indictment charged Thursday.

Zazi, arrested in Denver last weekend on a count of lying to terrorism investigators, was charged in New York with using conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction.

Thank God we have a Democrat in the White House. Had there been a Republican there, we’d all be dead by now.

Protect America! Prevent another 9/11! Vote Democrat!

62.9% of Physicians Nationwide Support Public Insurance Option

by Ben Hoffman

A RWJF survey summarized in the September 14, 2009 edition of the New England Journal of Medicine shows that 62.9 percent of physicians nationwide support proposals to expand health care coverage that include both public and private insurance options—where people under the age of 65 would have the choice of enrolling in a new public health insurance plan (like Medicare) or in private plans. The survey shows that just 27.3 percent of physicians support a new program that does not include a public option and instead provides subsidies for low-income people to purchase private insurance. Only 9.6 percent of doctors nationwide support a system where a Medicare-like public program is created in lieu of any private insurance. A majority of physicians (58%) also support expanding Medicare eligibility to those between the ages of 55 and 64.

In every region of the country, a majority of physicians supported a combination of public and private options, as did physicians who identified themselves as primary care providers, surgeons, or other medical subspecialists. Among those who identified themselves as members of the American Medical Association, 62.2 percent favored both the public and private options.

Public support for a public option is at 77%

If we don’t get a public option, our democracy is in serious trouble.

Breitbart.com Sued By ACORN For Secretly Taping Employees

by Ben Hoffman

ACORN filed suit today in Maryland against conservative filmmakers James O’Keefe, Hannah Giles and conservative Web site Breitbart.com for secretly taping the organization’s employees at its Baltimore office.

In the complaint, ACORN alleges that the filmmakers entered into the organization’s offices in July with a “hidden camera and microphone” and taped employees Tonja Thompson and Shera Williams. Both employees are listed as plaintiffs on the complaint, filed in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City.

ACORN is seeking $500,000 for each employee and $1 million for the organization in damages.

New Poll Says 2 Out of Three People Are Angry At Government Policies

by Ben Hoffman

Sixty-six percent (66%) of voters nationwide say they’re at least somewhat angry about the current policies of the federal government. That figure includes 36% who are Very Angry.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 30% are not angry about the government’s policies, including 10% who are Not at All Angry.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/september_2009/66_angry_at_government_policies_60_say_neither_party_has_answers

While Rasmussen has a strong conservative bias in their polls, this one may be right on. I mean, why shouldn’t people be angry? Our tax dollars have been used to bail out the financial industry that was responsible for destroying our economy. Industries that were deemed “too big to fail” have gotten even bigger. There has yet to be any new regulation to prevent another major failure. The rich have gotten richer and the rest of us are losing ground. Unemployment is high. The deficit is unfathomable. Health insurance costs have skyrocketed. And all that seems to come out of Washington is petty bickering.

Things You Should Be Whining About Today If You’re a Right-Winger

by Ben Hoffman

Afghanistan – Although there really aren’t any good solutions, complain about Obama not making up his mind about what to do. The “decider” used to be able to make up his mind on gut instincts alone, regardless of the facts!

ACORN – Complain about this being Obama’s personal organization that got him elected.

Complain about Obama taking destroying our liberties, even though we can’t name one liberty he destroyed.

Repeat the lie that Obama is the worst president in U.S. history. After all, the bigger the lie, the more people will believe it. (I believe Hitler said that.)

Blame the bad economy on Obama. Retroactively blame him.

Praise Reagan and his policies.

Complain that Carter was the worst president in U.S. history.

Right-Wingers Love Welfare!

by Ben Hoffman

Right-wingers love the military but don’t want to have to pay for it with their taxes. They use the roads, fire departments, police, schools, drink the water, have their trash picked up, and many other government services, but they don’t want to have to pay for them. They also don’t want to pay for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Right-wingers want all these government services for nothing. When you get something for nothing, that’s welfare.
