Paul Krugman: Newt Gingrich Is ‘A Stupid Man’s Idea Of What A Smart Person Sounds Like’

by Ben Hoffman

On This Week with Christiane Amanpour, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman gave his two cents about why Republican support is beginning to coalesce around Newt Gingrich, with a snarky barb thrown in for good measure. “It was his time, the Republican base doesn’t want Romney and they keep looking for an alternative, and Newt — although somebody said ‘he’s a stupid man’s idea of what a smart person sounds like,’ but he is more plausible than the other guys they’ve been pushing up.”

  1. Paul Krugman is one of my favorite all time people ever. He is TRULY intelligent. He is analytical and thoughtful and while he backs up his ideas calmly and rationally, he isn’t above being openly, emotionally disgusted by the bullshit he encounters every day. And when he sees it, he calls it. My hero!

  2. And he agrees with me. What’s not to like?

  3. That is a good headline, and true as far as I can tell.

  4. What the heck Ben, where are your trolls on this thread? I was looking forward to their insightful commentary…

Paul Krugman generally is not worth being deleted for . But since I’m here . Gingrich has more brains than Krugman, who is the chief apologist for the failed Keynesian economics of the Obama experiment . Krugman’s excuse for the abject failure of his pet economic theory is that President Obama did not go big enough in his policy of debasing the American currency .

The fact that such a well respected member of the liberal intelligentsia is attacking Newt Gingrich is a sign of how well he is doing. But fear not, Newt will fade like the other anti Romneys have . His problem is not a lack of intelligence . It is his erratic judgement. Which is a different subject . Anyone on the right who would appear in a commercial with Pelosi, supporting climate change will never be the Republican nominee. So relax guys . Go after the rest of the GOP field .

No, the discretionary spending part of the Stimulus did what it was intended to do, which was create jobs and improve our infrastructure. You just lie to defend your party, which has no redeeming value whatsoever.
