Defense spending has more than tripled since 1998

by Ben Hoffman

Defense-Spending
During the 2000s, we had an economy based almost entirely on massive defense spending, which put our country deep in debt. And what exactly do we have to show for it, other than 1000s of graves and 10s of thousands of wounded veterans? The war in Iraq created ISIS/ISIL, and fighting them is costing billions more.

Republicans voted to increase defense spending despite the Pentagon advocating for spending cuts. Republicans receive a lot of donations from the military industrial complex, which explains it. Their policies are driven almost entirely by who will fill their coffers.

Democrats receive a lot of money from the MIC, also, but they’re not nearly as corrupt and don’t tailor their policies to big money donors.

Conservative jumps White House fence, kicks and punches secret service dogs

by Ben Hoffman

The Secret Service has apprehended a man who jumped over the White House fence.

This latest incident comes about a month after a previous White House fence jumper sprinted across the lawn, past armed uniformed agents and entered the mansion before he was stopped in the East Room and taken into custody.

The Secret Service says the man in Wednesday’s incident climbed the Pennsylvania Avenue fence at about 7:16 p.m. and was immediately apprehended by uniformed agents and K-9 teams.

Video of the incident recorded by TV news cameras shows a man in white shorts just inside the fence.

The video shows the man lifting his shirt as if to show that he is unarmed. He is then seen kicking and punching two Secret Service dogs.

Obama causes gas prices to drop to well below $3.00 a gallon in many states

Obama causes drop in gas prices

http://video.pbs.org/viralplayer/2365349729
Gas was under $1.00 a gallon during the Clinton administration (along with budget surpluses and low unemployment). Under George W. Bush, gas prices soared to over $4.00 a gallon. It wasn’t until our economy was heading over a cliff at the end of 2008 that gas prices went down to about $1.59 a gallon. Just a few months before that in June of 2008, gas was over $4.00 a gallon.

Obama’s policies are working. He is only able to do so much, considering Republicans flat-out refuse to work with him on anything, but things are getting better. The worst thing possible for out country would be for Republicans to gain any more power. For too many people, it’s party first.

Fox “news” only tells the truth 21% of the time (completely or mostly true statements)

by Ben Hoffman

fox lies

Fox lies almost 80% of the time

Source…
Fox is nothing but a Republican propaganda station. People who get their “facts” from Fox or other right-wing sites love party more than our country.

ABC told the truth 41% of the time, CBS: 39%, NBC: 35%. Overwhelmingly, on the major broadcasting networks, the lies were told by right-wing pundits. Since Fox “news” is nearly 100% right-wing, it is understandable that they would score low in honesty.

Colorado’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.7 percent in September, the lowest rate since June 2008, and the state added 14,600 payroll jobs from the previous month.

The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment said Tuesday the state’s jobless rate fell four-tenths of a percentage point in September from August levels and is down nearly 2 percentage points from the September 2013 rate of 6.6 percent.

It’s the first time in more than four years that Colorado unemployment has been under 5 percent. (See the table at the end of this story for unemployment data for the last several years.)

Meanwhile, the payroll job gain last month was nearly double the state’s average monthly increase of 5,617 over the last 12 months.

Private business added a net 14,700 jobs to their payrolls, while government and public school districts shed a net 100 jobs, CDLE said.

Just a few of Cory Gardner’s lies

by Ben Hoffman
cory gardner

Asshole

  • Cory Gardner lied about launching Colorado’s green energy industry (his bill wasn’t funded and did absolutely nothing).
  • Gardner lied about bipartisanship (he voted to repeal the ACA over 50 times in the House).
  • Gardner lied about the personhood bill he co-sponsored (H.R. 1091: Life at Conception Act. His name is still on it).
  • Gardner lied about over-the-counter birth control (women don’t support it).
  • Gardner lied about how his insurance was canceled because of Obamacare (which happened before the ACA went into effect).

Gardner is nothing but a con-man.

Breaking news: All 4 Blackwater mercenaries found guilty in 2007 Iraq murders

by Ben Hoffman

WASHINGTON — Four former Blackwater Worldwide security contractors were convicted Wednesday on charges stemming from a deadly 2007 shooting in Iraq.

Federal court jurors found one defendant guilty of murder and three others of manslaughter and weapons charges, roundly asserting that the shooting was criminal. The defendants showed little emotion as the lengthy verdict was read.

Seventeen Iraqis died when gunfire erupted on Sept. 16, 2007 in the crowded Nisour Square in Baghdad. The shooting inflamed anti-American sentiment abroad and helped solidify the notion that Blackwater, America’s largest security contractor in Iraq, was reckless and unaccountable.

Shots fired in Canada’s capital building; injuries reported (video)

by Ben Hoffman

At least one person was injured Wednesday morning on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Canada after multiple shots were fired inside the main legislative building, according to media reports.

Parliament Hill’s Centre Block was on lockdown after shots were fired in the building, the Globe and Mail reported. A soldier standing guard at the nearby National War Memorial was also shot, according to the newspaper. It’s not clear at this point whether the two shootings are connected.

A witness told the Globe and Mail that the shooter at the War Memorial ran away from the scene toward Parliament Hill and appeared to be carrying a rifle.

Cory Gardner raised taxes on wind energy industry; 100s laid off

by Ben Hoffman

unemploymentWind-turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems were forced to layoff 100s of workers when Republicans increased taxes on clean energy businesses — purely for political purposes.

The cuts represent 29 percent of the plant’s workforce. Vestas also had laid off workers at plants in Brighton and Pueblo due to the tax increase.

Fascist Colorado county clerk official tries to limit free speech

by Ben Hoffman

October-21-2014-P1-400x387Fascist Republican Larimer County Clerk and Recorder Angela Myers objected to the newspapers because of their front page coverage of Sen. Mark Udall’s (D-CO) visit to the university’s campus. She threatened to confiscate copies of a student newspaper that were available in newspaper racks at the university’s student center because she claimed that they violate a state law prohibiting “electioneering . . . within one hundred feet of any building in which a polling location is located.” She didn’t have a problem when the newspaper featured a front page photo of Republican Cory Gardner, though.

After receiving a cease and desist letter from Steven Zansberg, an attorney at Levine Sullivan Koch and Schultz, LLP, Rocky Mountain Student Media’s legal representation, Myers reversed her decision and said the Collegian will be allowed to display newspapers in the racks at the entrance to the LSC.

Cory Gardner flat out lied about his role in launching Colorado’s green energy industry

by Ben Hoffman

Con-man Cory ran this ad to con people into believing he’s a moderate…

The problem with that is, he’s lying. His law to “launch Colorado’s green-energy industry” was repealed five years later, “deemed useless for not enabling a single project.”

The 2007 law created the Clean Energy Development Authority. The authority never had a staff and did little but gather once a year to report to the legislature that it had made no progress. By 2012 the authority was scrapped, part of a larger makeover of the Energy Office, now called the Colorado Energy Office.

Mitch McConnell actually admitted that his number one priority was to destroy Obama

by Ben Hoffman

mitch-mcconnell-make-obama-one-term-presidentAt a time of national crisis, when our economy was teetering on the edge of a cliff, when we were mired in two disastrous wars, Republicans were interested in only one thing: destroying Obama. Mitch McConnell actually said, “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”

“Women are too dumb to vote”

by Ben Hoffman

Fox news logo

Fox news logo

Fox “news” would like women to believe that they are too dumb to vote. Women aren’t “too dumb to vote;” they are too smart to vote Republican, and Fox exists to elect Republicans. This should be enough to motivate women to get out there and vote.

Fox host Greg Gutfeld said that young women lack the wisdom to vote as conservatives.
Kimberly Guilfoyle said they should be excused from jury duty, because they lack life experience and just “don’t get it.” Instead, she said, they should “go back on Tinder or Match.com.”
Fox’s Tucker Carlson said, “Do You Want Your Government Run By People Whose Favorite Show Is Say Yes [To The Dress]?”
The National Review posted an article entitled “Five Reasons Why Women are Too Dumb To Vote.”

If you get your “news” from Fox or some other right-wing media outlet, you’re too anti-American to vote. Your loyalties are to the Republican party — not to America.

Man tells Obama: “Don’t touch my girlfriend.”

by Ben Hoffman

President Obama found himself in an unusual situation Monday.

As he was casting his ballot early in Chicago, minding his own business behind the voting booth, a young man walked by and warned him “don’t touch my girlfriend.”

The girlfriend, Aia Cooper, who was voting in the booth next to Obama, was humiliated, to say the least. “I really wasn’t planning on it,” Obama joked with the woman. “There’s an example of a brother just embarrassing you, just for no reason whatsoever.”

“And now you’ll be going back home and talking to you friends; what’s his name?” the president asked.

“Mike,” Cooper said.

“‘I can’t believe Mike. He’s such a fool,’” Obama said, impersonating the woman.

“He really is,” she agreed.

Obama continued: “‘I was just mortified. But, fortunately, the president was nice about it. So it’s all right.’”

“I am freaking out right now,” she said, laughing.

The president got the last laugh, though.

“Give me a kiss and give him something to talk about,” the president said, as he gave Cooper a hug and a peck on the cheek. “Now he’s really jealous.”

But Cooper downplayed the moment.

“He gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Just the cheek,” she told ABC’s Chicago station WLS. “Please, Michelle, don’t come after me!”
