At least one person was injured Wednesday morning on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Canada after multiple shots were fired inside the main legislative building, according to media reports.
Parliament Hill’s Centre Block was on lockdown after shots were fired in the building, the Globe and Mail reported. A soldier standing guard at the nearby National War Memorial was also shot, according to the newspaper. It’s not clear at this point whether the two shootings are connected.
A witness told the Globe and Mail that the shooter at the War Memorial ran away from the scene toward Parliament Hill and appeared to be carrying a rifle.
