The most important point he made was pointing out that Congress has been bought. You have to dance with those who brought you, and that is a political fact of life. Will removing money from politics fix the situation, probably not entirely but it would be a huge step. The elite has a huge investment in the government and will not give up that power willingly.
It would take a very large mass movement of American citizens demanding electoral and spending reform for it to work. Raising consciousness is a huge amount of work, but as Mr,Ratigan points out, until it happens every policy will effectively be hamstrung by the vested interests that run the American political structure.

True, and with the recent Citizens United ruling, the situation has gotten even worse. Much worse. Talk about judicial activism!
