Christian Terrorism: Dove World Outreach Center To Burn Korans on 9/11

by Ben Hoffman

KABUL—The top U.S. commander in Afghanistan said the planned burning of Qurans on Sept. 11 by a small Florida church could put the lives of American troops in danger and damage the war effort.

Gen. David Petraeus said the Taliban would exploit the demonstration for propaganda purposes, drumming up anger toward the U.S. and making it harder for allied troops to carry out their mission of protecting Afghan civilians.

“It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort,” Gen. Petraeus said in an interview. “It is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems. Not just here, but everywhere in the world we are engaged with the Islamic community.”

Hundreds of Afghans attended a demonstration in Kabul on Monday to protest the plans of Florida pastor Terry Jones, who has said he will burn copies of Islam’s holy book to mark the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Afghan protesters chanted “death to America,” and speakers called on the U.S. to withdraw its troops. Some protesters threw rocks at a passing military convoy.

These Christian fundamentalists have the same mindset as the Islamic fundamentalists. They’re just one step away from murder and it’s just a matter of time.

  1. [They’re just one step away from murder and it’s just a matter of time]

Get back to us when this happens even half the time Muslims murder in the name of their god.

    • So we should answer hate, violence, and fear-mongering with more hate, violence, and fear-mongering? Yeah, that will solve the world’s problems.

Whatever happened to the idea that as Americans we should hold ourselves to a higher standard? We condemn acts of prejudice and hatred all over the world, including those committed by Islamic extremists, but it’s then okay for us to answer that with something as hateful as a Koran burning? Why not answer their calls for “Death to America” with allowing Muslims the freedom to worship? By demonstrating our tolerance of all faiths and belief systems? By refusing to take their bait? By NOT becoming exactly what they accuse us of being?

Two wrongs don’t make a right. What a cliche, huh? Too bad there are still people who need to be reminded of it.

  2. Echo, yeah I think it’s a terrible idea for these people to burn the Koran.

[Why not answer their calls for “Death to America” with allowing Muslims the freedom to worship?]

I think they already have freedom to worship, don’t they?
