Christian Terrorist Stabs NY City Cab Driver

by Ben Hoffman

A New York City cab driver was attacked Tuesday evening just after 6 p.m. by a passenger who asked him if he was Muslim, says the NYPD.

According to police, passenger Michael Enright, a 21-year-old from Brewster, New York, hailed a taxi at 24th Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan driven by Ahmed Sharif, a resident of Queens.

As the cab headed north on Third Avenue, Enright allegedly asked Sharif, who is of South Asian origin, “Are you Muslim?” When Sharif confirmed that he was Muslim, police say, Enright stabbed him multiple times with a Leatherman knife.

According to a statement from the New York Taxi Workers Alliance, which represents drives, Enright allegedly screamed “Assalamu Alaikum,” a common Islamic greeting meaning “Peace be upon you,” before slashing Sharif across the face, neck and shoulders. Sharif also sustained defensive wounds to the arm and hand.

Enright volunteered with Intersections International, a Christian group.

  1. That is terrible. Of course its not as bad as killing almost 3000 Americans just because they’re Americans. You remember…by Muslims in 2001.

  2. “Christians have killed far more people that.”

Very common false assertion. Can you back it up? Naaaa.

  3. That’s what I thought. Can’t prove it. You meet expectations. And you suffer from BDS. He lives in your head.

  4. Ed, Ben can’t back up anything he says … first of all the group mentioned in the article, Intersections International is NOT a Christian group: this is their own description from their own website: “Founded in 2007, Intersections is a permanent multi-faith, multi-cultural effort of the Collegiate Churches of New York, the oldest corporation in North America, dating back to 1628.”
And this guy wasn’t employed there … the group just said he “MATCHED someone who had worked with the group as a volunteer”…

Oh, one final thing: More people are killed by Islamists each year than in all 350 years of the Spanish Inquisition combined. (

I hadn’t been to this site much in the past couple months; just had a need to be reminded of how crazy the far-left, Bush blaming liberals are.

  5. I find this recent hatred and violence shown toward Muslims to be extremely sad, frustrating, stupid, and not at all surprising. This cab driver has lived in the United States for decades and has raised his kids here…he is an American. He, like the vast majority of Muslims in America (and around the world) had nothing at all to do with the 9/11 attacks. This anger and fear is completely misplaced and is the result of ignorance and the fear-mongering tactics of the far right.

Enough of this. A debate about which religion is responsible for the most violence and death is pointless. People have always, and will always, kill in the name of God. This will never change. There is nothing inherent in Christians that makes them “better” than Muslims.

This stupid kid thought that his innocent cab driver was an enemy of America. Because he’s a Muslim? Really? Whatever happened to freedom of religion? You can’t go halfway here. You’re either in favor of religious freedom – for EVERYONE – or you’re not. People of every religion have a right to worship, and to build a place of worship on private property. Giving in to ignorant fear and hatred and prejudice is not a virtue.

    • [There is nothing inherent in Christians that makes them “better” than Muslims.]

True. In fact, they’re very much alike. Those on the fringes of both religions are filled with fear and hatred and often turn violent towards those who don’t believe in their imaginary gods.

On the anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech, right-wingers are having a hate-fest in Washington led by their prophet Glen Beck. One of these days, all hell is going to break out and hopefully these nuts will be on the losing end of it.

    • I find this recent hatred and violence shown toward Muslims to be extremely sad

I think more people would care if you’re sad if you showed the same feelings towards Christians who are persecuted here in America.

      Or anywhere.

      • And why is that? Why are American Christians more deserving of my compassion?

      • And why is that? Why are American Christians more deserving of my compassion?

Because you sound that you only care about Muslims. Not Christians.

Why AREN’T Christians as deserving of your compassion?

      • Christians are doing just fine here in America. They don’t need my help. In what way are they being persecuted here? I of course have compassion for anyone being persecuted anywhere in the world for their religious beliefs. Freedom of religion, in my view, should be a basic right for all people.

But that’s not what we’re talking about here. We’re talking about the recent rise in hatred and prejudice toward Muslims in America. And most of that hatred is being expressed by Christians and the far right.
