The Democrats Ended The War In Afghanistan! No More Funding!!!

by Ben Hoffman

The House Democrat who oversees funding for Afghanistan’s redevelopment and reconstruction said on Monday that she is stripping money from her foreign aid bill in reaction to pervasive corruption. Dave Obey, chairman of the Appropriations Committee, supports the move made by subcommittee chairwoman Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.), according to an Obey spokesman.

Lowey cited pervasive corruption in Afghanistan as the cause for her decision to pull the funding from the appropriations bill working its way through her State and Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee.

“I do not intend to appropriate one more dime for assistance to Afghanistan until I have confidence that U.S. taxpayer money is not being abused to line the pockets of corrupt Afghan government officials, drug lords and terrorists,” said Lowey.

Finally, a little common sense! There is no winning in Afghanistan so it’s time we stopped funneling all that money over there when our country is running huge deficits. Even if everything went perfectly and the Afghani government was able to stand on its own, that doesn’t accomplish a thing since the Karzai government is one of the most corrupt in the world — second only to Somalia!

That’s exactly how Democrats got us out of the war in Vietnam: they cut off funding.

  1. …and the Viet Cong took over the American Embassy as we shuffled people out on roof helicopters. We could have gotten out three years before at least. Same situation as Afghanistan.

  2. Mr. Hoffman,

” There is no winning in Afghanistan ”

    Currently you are right.

” That’s exactly how Democrats got us out of the war in Vietnam: they cut off funding. ”

You are selling your own people short. For years before the Vietnam War ended the Democrats did everything they could to discourage the troops and sabotage the war effort. Since 2003 they did the same thing in Iraq and Afghanistan. They failed to lose the war in Iraq, thanks to General Petrayus, Betrayus to you. Afghanistan is what you folks said was the right war. Now you want to lose it, now that you own it.

Truly amazing how history keeps repeating itself. In 1976 the country elected Governor Jimmy Carter because they were mad at Republicans over Watergate and the Vietnam War. Carter was a weak President who became a disaster.

Now the country was mad at Republicans over the Iraq War and $4 per gallon gasoline. So just to spite itself again, the country elected another weak executive. Economy in the toilet and not getting better. I wonder if God will send us another Reagan this time.
