  1. You think they’ll get it?

  2. Funny cartoon. “Libertarian Hypocrisy” might be more appropriate, but then again, the argument could be made that the woman isn’t a true Libertarian. 🙂

  3. True enough, because goodness knows that modern Republicans don’t have a shred of libertarian philosophy left, which is why many of us run far and fast from Republicans these days.

    • One of many reasons, I think. From a Libertarian perspective, they picked a fine time to really care about the debt.

Also, the Republicans are not the strong opposition I would have hoped for. It’s like they’re offering us scraps of food (do it our way and you may still starve to death, go bankrupt, or die), and the Dems aren’t offering us any food, just crack cocaine (sure all that’s going on, but just take this and you’ll feel better in the meantime! OH, and here’s some free stuff for your friends, too.) Are there any good choices out there?!

      • Choices? Nah. I love the generic congressional approval polls that have them at 20% overall approval, yet when asked about THEIR OWN congressman, they get 60% ratings. That’s the problem. It’s turned into a game where most people are not directed by philosophy, rather they are guided by the color of the uniform. R and D have become the philosophies. We are in trouble I fear.

  4. That cartoon is so dishonest that it’s pathetic. ” Big Government ” as defined by Tea Party Patriots is Obama Inc. getting into sectors of the economy they will only ruin.

Small Government is then able to focus on a few areas, like ” plug the damn hole ” to quote reports on President Obama’s irrational outburst.

  5. Well, He did proclaim that he “was in charge”…

  6. Indyfromaz,

” Well, He did proclaim that he “was in charge”… ”

Can you imagine how much worse it would have been if he weren’t? Like when he saved ( or ) created millions of jobs with his Stimulus Bill.

I bet he saved millions of barrels of oil that would have gone into the Gulf of Mexico, on top of the millions of barrels that George Bush caused to spill into the Gulf.

I bet there are millions of pelicans and other birds that don’t have oil all over them thanks to Obama. I don’t even have to see the birds that President Obama’s leadership saved. I just believe it.

  7. We are floundering in a sea of discontent. Where do we go from here. Perhaps November will point the way.

  8. Hey, ease up, everybody. Obama will plug the hole now that Chu’s on the job!

Did you hear that he’s a Nobel Prize winner? It wasn’t for chemistry or biology, mind you, but he IS an expert in trapping atoms with lasers. I think that’s what they call “legitimate” when it comes to scientists, so full steam ahead! 🙂

  9. Within a week of the blowout President Obama should have been down in the Gulf and assembled a crisis team . I do not begrudge the man for not being an expert on handling out of control deep sea oil wells. But you have to be able to make calls and know when your people on scene, the MMS, are not up to the task. Very similar to sacking Commanders and bringing in new Generals when a war is not going well.

Since this was unprecedented, he should have gotten the best oil experts in the world to advise him . These would have included the former heads of oil companies . There are a lot around.

This crisis team would also include the Governors of the closest Gulf of Mexico States . This way Federal and State agencies would be coordinated, and red tape cut. Allowing the Governors in on the decisions would also have stopped the partisan second guessing now plaguing the President.

With such a team in place, it would have been obvious in short order that BP was not only lying, but not fully competent to lead the effort to stop the well. Particularly the experts knowing the size of the well, would know that BP’s flow estimates made no sense .

Such a crisis team of the best people in the World would also have given the President the best advice on what help to accept or reject coming in from foreign Governments.

Just knowing that such a team was put together with dispatch would have given the public the patience to endure the inevitable disappointments of the spill.

    • If he would have done that, you right-wingers would have been screaming SOCIALISM! Any little thing that went wrong, you assholes would have been screaming for his impeachment.

What happened to your free-market capitalism?

  10. Mr. Hoffman,

” Any little thing that went wrong, you assholes would have been screaming for his impeachment. ”

Yes you do have a way with the language, but of course you are wrong. If the President had brought in oil industry experts, if he had brought in Bobby Jindal, it would have been pretty hard for us assholes to impeach him.

If you were honest you would note that Conservatives have been far less brutal on your guy than you gentlemen would have been on Bush, under the same circumstances. Also your left wing kooks have been pretty brutal on Obama anyway. I mean, if you were really honest in your arguments.

    • [If the President had brought in oil industry experts, if he had brought in Bobby Jindal, it would have been pretty hard for us assholes to impeach him.]

Sure it would be “hard” for you assholes to impeach him since you don’t have a majority in the House, but you would be screaming for his impeachment.

[If you were honest you would note that Conservatives have been far less brutal on your guy than you gentlemen would have been on Bush, under the same circumstances.]

If you were honest, you wouldn’t base your argument on hedgehog personified predictions.

  11. Mr. Hoffman,

” If you were honest, you wouldn’t base your argument on hedgehog personified predictions. ”

I don’t have a clue what that could mean.

” Sure it would be “hard” for you assholes to impeach him since you don’t have a majority in the House, but you would be screaming for his impeachment ”

Wow you actually got something half right. Republicans are the most powerless minority party in my lifetime. During Bush’s time you guys stopped a lot of his proposals which of course means that you share in whatever went wrong .

Especially last year Republicans could do nothing. Therefore, everything from the economy, to Obamascare, to Afghanistan, to the damn hole at the bottom of the ocean is your fault.

As far as the second part you got wrong, the fact is Obama did not give a damn what Republicans thought when he pushed through his agenda. So why would he, or better yet, why do you care if Republicans screamed impeachment? You do care, or you would not have listed it as a reason for not bringing in outside Oil Company advisors and Bobby Jindal.
