Obama Appoints 15 Recess Appointments – Tells GOP To Go F**k Yourselves

by Ben Hoffman

President Obama on Saturday announced the recess appointment of 15 political appointees whose nominations had been stalled by Republicans. This is on WhiteHouse.gov:

After facing months of Republican obstruction to administration nominees, President Obama announced his intent to recess appoint fifteen nominees to fill critical administration posts that have been left vacant, including key positions on the economic team and on boards that have been left with vacancies for months.

“The United States Senate has the responsibility to approve or disapprove of my nominees. But if, in the interest of scoring political points, Republicans in the Senate refuse to exercise that responsibility, I must act in the interest of the American people and exercise my authority to fill these positions on an interim basis,” said President Barack Obama. “Most of the men and women whose appointments I am announcing today were approved by Senate committees months ago, yet still await a vote of the Senate. At a time of economic emergency, two top appointees to the Department of Treasury have been held up for nearly six months. I simply cannot allow partisan politics to stand in the way of the basic functioning of government.”

Ha! Obama is finally treating the GOP with the disrespect they deserve. He’s on a roll. What’s he going to do next? 🙂

  1. Mr. Hoffman,

What is the big deal ? George W. Bush made about 15 recess appointments at this point in his Presidency because, guess what ? Your party was holding up his people .

Do you know what Harry Reid said when President Bush did it ? Recess appointments were ” an end run around the Constitution. ” Of course, as with all the Democrats, what you before and what you say after you get power, well you know .

I guess the only difference between Bush and Obama was that Bush did not ” Tells GOP To Go F**k Yourselves ” to the Democrats . Or maybe he should have .

You know,, if you substituted Americans for GOP in your title and used it to describe Obama-care and the take over of student loans, you would have been more accurate than you have up until now .

    • What is the big deal ? George W. Bush made about 15 recess appointments at this point in his Presidency

Obama. Tryin’ as hard as he can to be Bush.

  2. Now that’s more like the Bi-partisanship the President promised repeatedly over the last 2 years… 😦

  3. When Republicans get power back, we have so many examples of how to screw the opposition . The temptation will be to become as slimey as the Democrats are right now .

  4. Senator Obama declared that a recess appointment is “damaged goods” and has “less credibility” than a normal appointment. August 25, 2005.

So Obama is appointing ‘damaged goods’ along with his less than credible cronies.

  5. Well, if your guys would stop with obstruction for the sake of obstruction, it wouldn’t come to this. You just don’t like the tables being turned on you. Drop the smuggness, I don’t think your going to gain any ground come november.

  6. Heywood Jablome,

” Well, if your guys would stop with obstruction for the sake of obstruction, it wouldn’t come to this. You just don’t like the tables being turned on you. Drop the smuggness, I don’t think your going to gain any ground come november. ”

Republicans are obstructing to try to save America . They are much weaker than Democrats were during the Bush years . You remember the Bush years, when Democrats screwed Bush on absolutely everything . Just for the fun of it . Tell me I’m wrong .

At any rate your guy Obama is a hypocrite . Of course you knew that . He helped obstruct Bush and then condemned the recess appointments . He said he would do things differently . We Republicans said he would lie and use hypocrisy to get what he wanted . We were right, you were wrong, but you don’t care .

It is not about right and wrong, is it ? It’s about winning and losing . It’s about who has the power to win and who does not . You have all of the power, we do not .

We are not smug . We cannot afford to be . You guys totally run the place . We are the fallen party, sitting in the back room . The only good thing we have is that we cannot be blamed for what has happened in the form of total corruption and drunken crack smoking Congressional spending .
