Liberal Bias? Yeah, Right!

by Ben Hoffman

Just look at this “news” story from the Denver Post:

Single-payer health care plan dies in Senate

WASHINGTON—The liberals’ longtime dream of a government-run health care system for all died Wednesday in the Senate, but Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont vowed it will return when the realization dawns that private insurance companies “are no longer needed.”

The proposal’s demise came as Senate Democratic leaders and the White House sought agreement with Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., to become the 60th supporter of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul—the number needed to overcome a Republican filibuster.

First of all, “single-payer health care” has been off the table from the beginning. It was the government option that died in the Senate. Second, the “liberals’ longtime dream of a government-run health care system?” What the hell is that? Is that reporting?

Our country is so screwed.

  1. Easy, Tiger.

Take a look at the amendment which Senator Sanders introduced, which was defeated today, and then you’ll understand the story.

    • Yeah, I read that. Obama’s a sell-out. But this thread is about media bias.

      • Not sure I see where the bias is – didn’t Liberals want a single-payer system? Or is it that Post isn’t reporting that (in your opinion) the real cause of the demise was the Republicans, and instead trying to point the finger at Democratic senators who failed to get on board?

To me, it seems like both the Republicans and Democrats here are being played like flutes by the special interests.

  2. Mr. Hoffman,

So the Denver Post is equivalent to the the NY Times, LA Times, Washington Times, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC ?

Second of all, no one knows what is in the Senate Bill right now. These idiots are scheduled to vote at, I don’t know 1:00 AM or something on Monday, and except for the clowns who wrote this monstrosity, nobody will have read it before they vote. Sounds like a great way to run a third World country.

  3. Mr. Hoffman,

“You’re right, it’s a piece of garbage. It only helps the poor and won’t do anything to bring down costs. Insurance stocks reached a 52 year high on Friday for a reason: it’s a windfall for the insurance companies.”

    President Obama:

“”By standing up to the special interests who prevented reform for decades and who are furiously lobbying against it now, the Senate has moved us closer to reform that makes a tremendous difference for families, for seniors, for businesses, and for the country as a whole,” Obama told reporters at the White House.”

Either you or President Obama is a liar. I don’t believe it is you.

    • The CBO claims it will reduce the deficit by a few hundred thousand dollars over 10 years, which is nothing.

From what I understand, the bill prohibits insurance companies from using less than 85% of premium payments for anything but payments to health care providers, which will help control costs. With some insurance companies, only 70% currently goes to actually paying the doctors and hospitals.

So that’s something. We’ll have to wait and see what the final piece of sausage looks like.

  4. Mr. Hoffman,

I will give you Charles Krauthammer’s take on the CBO’s numbers. First he criticized the head of the Republican Party for saying that the CBO’s numbers were cooked. The CBO’s numbers are not cooked based on the assumptions they were given. However Mr. Krauthammer said that everybody in Washington knows that the assumptions are totally cooked.

There are cuts to Doctors and cuts to Medicare that are assumed to make the numbers work. He said everybody knows that no politicians will be able to make those cuts stick. So as all of us Republicans have been saying forever, Obamacare is totally based on lies.

You have totally ignored these facts when I have brought up similar ones previously. Just as you ignore the $trillions that Medicare has in unfunded liabilities.

I have to laugh at you Liberals. You don’t like the Senate Bill because it does not screw the insurance companies. You don’t understand, in the big picture that does not mean squat. Obama constantly makes false assumptions. If the assumptions were true, then there wouldn’t be a problem. Just as when Obama said Illegals would not get free health care, when he knew that the courts would not allow that. Your hero constantly lies by misdirection.

So as always, if I am full of crap, prove it.

  5. Blah, blah, blah… Talking point after talking point… If you took the emotional content out of your post, there would be nothing left. You right-wingers are far too emotional.

  6. Mr. Hoffman,

“If you took the emotional content out of your post, there would be nothing left. You right-wingers are far too emotional.”

Ok, I see it is too hard for you to disprove my arguments with facts. Situation normal.

However, just once if while trying to prove me wrong, you would find out that I’m right, it might force you to reexamine your point of view.

  7. Mr. Hoffman,

I refer or rather defer to people on my side who make a living at analyzing the news. Anyone who can dissect an Obama speech and pull out a meaning is smarter than me or you. I cannot improve upon Krauthammer.

“Write your own opinion and I’d be happy to debate it.”

No you wouldn’t. This is your typical response.

“Blah, blah, blah” “If you took the emotional content out of your post, there would be nothing left.”
