Right-Wingers Blame Obama For Tent Cities

by Ben Hoffman

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — Someone has put a lot of thought into a welcome sign that may surprise you, it’s in front of a homeless camp off I-25 in Colorado Springs.

Its message, “Welcome to Obamaville, Colorado’s fastest growing community.” Despite repeated calls no one could answer the question, who put up the sign?

What’s next? Will they blame the fire department for forest fires? Oh, yeah… The fire department is a socialist entity so they just might.

  1. During the depression you had Hoovervilles. What’s the difference?

    • Hoover’s policies helped cause the Great Depression. Obama’s policies have helped keep us our country from entering another depression. Only simple minded right-wing ideologues would call the current tent cities Obamavilles in an effort to blame Obama for the collapse of our economy.

      • in an effort to blame Obama for the collapse of our economy.

He certainly can’t be held responsible for how we got into this mess, that distinction belongs to Government in general, but he IS responsible for keeping us here as long as we are/will be.

      • [he IS responsible for keeping us here as long as we are/will be.]

Considering the problems with our economy were years in the making and Obama hasn’t even been in office a year yet, blaming Obama is purely political. He’s passed the stimulus bill and is working on another. He’s pushing for new regulations, albeit a little late.

Hoover opted for a hands off approach, which is why he was blamed for the tent cities. He did opt for some protectionist policies but they were too extreme and instead may have contributed to the severity of the depression.

Obama should do something to bring manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. Almost everything is made in China any more and China has protectionist policies to protect their jobs.

So, Pino, if Obama can be blamed for “keeping us here,” what do you think he should be doing?

  2. Mr. Hoffman,

“Only simple minded right-wing ideologues would call the current tent cities Obamavilles in an effort to blame Obama for the collapse of our economy.”

I think the sign is funny as hell. I wish I had thought of it. That said, where is your proof it was a right winger who put up the sign? It wouldn’t be the first time a left winger did something outrageous and got the right blamed.

Do you remember how the talking heads on your side tried to tar and feather the tea partyers with the Census worker’s murder? The clowns on your side kept saying that the tea parties incited violence. Only it ended up being a suicide insurance scam.

We never did get an appology from your side for that one.

The tea baggers did incite violence as did right-wing TV pundits.

[We never did get an apology from your side for that one.]

You really take this stuff personally, don’t you. 🙂

  3. Mr. Hoffman,

” You really take this stuff personally, don’t you. :)”

    No more than you.

  4. That’s right, Bush is Still president and the Congress is still controlled by the Republicans.
    That explains everything.
