Democrats Refuse to Allow Global Warming Skeptic to Testify!!!

by Ben Hoffman

Okay, global warming skeptics. Here’s your new talking point!

Washington, DC — UK’s Lord Christopher Monckton, a former science advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, claimed House Democrats have refused to allow him to appear alongside former Vice President Al Gore at a high profile global warming hearing on Friday April 24, 2009 at 10am in Washington. Monckton told Climate Depot that the Democrats rescinded his scheduled joint appearance at the House Energy and Commerce hearing on Friday. Monckton said he was informed that he would not be allowed to testify alongside Gore when his plane landed from England Thursday afternoon.

“The House Democrats don’t want Gore humiliated, so they slammed the door of the Capitol in my face,” Monckton told Climate Depot in an exclusive interview. “They are cowards.”

So just who is this Lord Christopher Monckton? He must be an important scientist or statesman of some sort. Right? Let’s see. According to The Heartland Institute, he’s a global warming expert, yet his degree is in journalism and that’s the extent to his qualifications. And what is the Heartland Institute? They are nonprofit organization whose mission is (they claim) “to discover and promote free-market solutions to social and economic problems”. Sounds good, but they’re funded by the Philip Morris, Walmart, and ExxonMobil, to name a few. Sure, they engage in unbiased research.

As far as his career in journalism, his most noted position as a writer was for the Evening Standard, a British right-wing tabloid magazine. He ran for a seat in the House of Lords and received no votes! Not one! Nada! Zip!

Monckton is the chief policy adviser to the Science and Public Policy Institute. Ooooh, that sounds impressive. The problem with the SPPI is, their only “science” is global warming and the only evidence provided is data cherry-picked to support their anti-global warming stance. Doesn’t sound like real science to me.

So why should this British nut-job be allowed to testify at a U.S. congressional hearing? Beats me.
